After receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees at Johns Hopkins University, David began a career in law enforcement. He experienced a call to ordained ministry and completed his seminary education in 2017, receiving a Master of Divinity with an emphasis in Pastoral Care from Northern Seminary (in Lombard) and a Diploma in Anglican Studies from Bexley Seabury (the Episcopal seminary in Chicago). During seminary, he completed clinical pastoral education as a chaplain intern at the DuPage Convalescent Center (in Wheaton) and pastoral internships at Grace Episcopal Church (in New Lenox) and Emmanuel. After his internship, Emmanuel called David to remain as the Youth and Family Minister and then as Assistant Rector after his ordination as a Transitional Deacon in December 2016. David was ordained as a Priest in June 2017. Rev. David has agreed to Co-Rector, sharing responsibilites with Rev. Ellen from January 1st 2019.
As a bi-vocational priest, David will continue to work full-time outside the church and part-time at Emmanuel. He oversees the programs for children and youth, and shares with the Rector in adult formation and pastoral care, as well as liturgical and administrative leadership of the parish. David has been married to his wife Stacy since 2006 and they share a passion for promoting healthy relationships. David specializes in marital and pre-marital counseling and enrichment programs. He has trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (among others) and is a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.
