After receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees at Johns Hopkins University, David began a career in law enforcement. He experienced a call to ordained ministry and completed his seminary education in 2017, receiving a Master of Divinity with an emphasis in Pastoral Care from Northern Seminary (in Lombard) and a Diploma in Anglican Studies from Bexley Seabury (the Episcopal seminary in Chicago). During seminary, he completed clinical pastoral education as a chaplain intern at the DuPage Convalescent Center (in Wheaton) and pastoral internships at Grace Episcopal Church (in New Lenox) and Emmanuel. Following his internship, Emmanuel called David to remain as the Assistant Rector after his ordination as a Transitional Deacon in December 2016. David was ordained as a Priest in June 2017. He was elected as Co-Rector with Rev. Ellen in 2019 and then became Rector upon her departure in 2020.

As a bi-vocational priest, David will continue to work full-time outside the church and part-time at Emmanuel. David has been married to his wife Stacy since 2006 and they share a passion for promoting healthy relationships. David specializes in marital and pre-marital counseling and relationship enrichment programs. He has trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (among other approaches) and is a practitioner member of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education.
